Counseling Services from Interactive Kids
Interactive Kids is pleased to announce that we are now offering cognitive, behavioral, and sex-offense specific counseling services. These services will be provided by our Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Lynne Farbman and Kristin O'Lexy.
Lynne has her Master in Social Service degree from Bryn Mawr College and has extensive experience providing individual and group therapy to children with behavior problems and their families, in a variety of settings. Through the use of a multi-modality approach, Lynne provides personalized therapeutic interventions, catering to each individual’s needs.
Kristin received her Master in Social Work degree from Rutgers University in 2011. She also completed the Rutgers School of Social Work Certificate Program in Violence Against Women and Children and is a NJ Certified School Social Worker. Kristin has training in the assessment and treatment of sexually abusive youth through the Second Chance Program overseen by the NJ Juvenile Justice Commission. She has over 10 years experience providing individualized clinical services to families, children and young adults on the Autism Spectrum, as well as knowledge in the areas of self-injurious behavior and treating members of the LGBTQ community.
Eligible clients include children ages 4-17 and young adults up to age 26 with behavioral difficulties and mental health concerns associated with
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder
- Depression/Mood Disorders and Anxiety Disorders
- Environmental Stressors
- High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder and Asperger’s Syndrome
- Self-injurious behaviors
- Sexually acting out behaviors
- LGBTQ challenges
Treatment will focus on the individual needs of each client. Common areas of focus in treatment include, but are not limited to
- Treatment planning
- Social Skills Training
- Parent Training
- Cognitive Behavior Therapy
- Development of Positive Coping Skills
- Sibling support groups
- Sex-offense Specific Counseling
In addition to individual counseling sessions, our clinical team will also be offering Support Groups addressing the areas of sibling relationships and teenage challenges. Family and group sessions are also available.
